Because it's the best way to describe the place, we'll use Harry Dresden's own words from Chapter 5 of Storm Front (all copyright goes to Jim Butcher, he wrote it and created it, not us):

McAnally's is a pub a few blocks from my office. I go there when I'm feeling stressed, or when I have a few extra bucks to spend on a nice dinner. A lot of us fringe types do. Mac, the pub owner, is used to wizards and all the problems that come along with us. There aren't any video games at McAnally's. There are no televisions or expensive computer trivia games. There isn't even a jukebox. Mac keeps a player piano instead. It's less likely to go haywire around us.

I say pub in all the best senses of the word. When you walk in, you take several steps down into a room with a deadly combination of low clearance and ceiling fans. If you're tall, like me, you walk carefully in McAnally's. There are thirteen windows, set up high in the wall in order to be above ground level, let some light from the street into the place. Thirteen mirrors on the walls cast back reflections of the patrons in dim detail, and give the illusion of more space. Thirteen wooden columns, carved with likenesses from folktales and legends of teh Old World, make it difficult to walk around the place without weaving a circuitous route - they also quite intentionally break up the flow of random energies, dispelling to one degree or another the auras that gather around broody, grumpy wizards and keeping them from manifesting in unintentional and colorful ways. The colors are all muted, earth browns and sea greens. The first time I entered McAnally's, I felt like a wolf returning to an old, favorite den. Mac makes his own beer, ale really, and it's the best stuff in the city. His food is cooked on a wood-burning stove. And you can damn well walk your own self over to the bar to pick up your order when it's ready, according to Mac. It's my sort of place.

Rules for play at McAnally's - Read these first.

Application Process:

1. Check the Cast List to be sure the character you wish to apply for is not already taken.

2. Create a new journal / dig up an old one for the character you wish to play. Be sure to fill out all of the appropriate information on the user info page or your application will be denied.

3. Your characters MUST be from a specific canon. No OCs!

4. You must list his/her/its canon and link to a website / page about it - preferably one that cites your specific character - on the character's LJ info page. If this is not possible, contact the mods for alternatives.

** Appropriate choices for website references are:
a. Official website for the canon (preferred)
b. Author's official website
c. Well-maintained / updated fan page (2 if one is your own)
d. Wikipedia article - well-maintained and routinely updated
e. Amazon.com or B&N.com links (for use only if no other sites exist)

** This rule is in place for the benefit of other players. Remember, not everyone will know your character's canon.

5. If you choose a web-based canon (ie: "Something Positive"), please attempt to obtain permission from the writer/creator of the canon prior to submitting your character application. Once permission is obtained, please include the formal 'okay' as an entry in the character's LJ and link to it from the character's info page. This is a CYA step and is in ADDITION to the general disclaimer that must also be displayed on the userinfo page.

6. Fill out the application HERE and also post the character bio to [info]mcanallys_ooc and include the following information:
